WHO WE ARE

We are a 170 year old school, so we have a huge story to tell. Taylor High School, established in 1852, being one of the earliest & oldest schools in the Narsapur region has contributed enormously to the country over the years.  A look at the Headmasters Roll of Honour would make one immediately recall the lovely time spent at this school- in the class rooms and corridors with friends and teachers, that laid foundation to their success.

The institution, originally known as “The Central School,” is one of the oldest institutions in South India. It was founded in the year 1852 by the Hon’ble Mr. George Noble Taylor, the then Sub Collector of Narsapur Division and was managed by a committee of the leading citizens of the locality. The main building was originally a ware house constructed by the Dutch, which after their withdrawal from this part of the country, came into the possession of late Sri Atmuri Sarvesam and some other merchants. The building was gifted to the school on the request of the founder Hon’ble Mr.G.N. Taylor.

The institution was maintained by the contributions of persons with philanthropic disposition and the maintenance aid granted by the Govt from time to time, until it was admitted to full aid by the state government. In appreciation of the commendable services rendered by the founder to the cause of education, in general and to the institution in particular, it was thought fit to associate his name with that of the school. In 1873, the original name “The Central School” was changed to “The Taylor High School.” It became a beacon to attract and illuminate the souls of many a thousands and is a proud mother of countless worthy sons and daughters.
